Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our website. We are a health clinic located in the heart of Windsor, Ontario, specializing in the care of complex patients in the areas of internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. We accept adult patients as well as late teens who are looking for a smooth transition from their paediatrician to a specialist caring for adults.

New patients require referral from their family physician or other physician involved in their care, which is usually simply a faxed consultation request to our office. Once this has been reviewed as well as your health coverage/insurance, an appointment can then be scheduled.

Visits are by appointment only and currently there are no walk-ins. We strongly believe in a collaborative approach to your care, with your opinions and concerns at the forefront, together with other physicians who form your healthcare team.

You may wonder what Endocrinology actually is or what Endocrinologists do. One definition is as follows:

It is the “signaling that coordinates and controls the functions of multiple organs and processes.”

– William’s Textbook of Endocrinology

More precisely, in the scientific realm, it is the study of signal transduction and its applications – how chemicals in the body affect its function, and how the production of these chemicals could alter based on genetics as well as the external environment.

Though the emphasis at the clinic is on the practical management of clearly defined “Endocrine” disorders – classically disorders of the various endocrine glands as well as lipid disorders and obesity – it goes without saying that endocrinology touches on numerous other fields including growth/development, fertility and pregnancy, sleep-wake cycles, etc. and is essentially a vast subject that is growing in scope year by year.

Dr Riyazuddin enjoys all aspects of Endocrinology. Common indications for which he sees patients include the following:

  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid problems
  • Parathyroid problems
  • Pituitary diseases
  • Adrenal diseases
  • Obesity
  • Cholesterol issues & cardiometabolic health
  • Secondary hypertension (i.e. unusual causes of high blood pressure)
  • Certain disorders affecting Calcium, Phosphorus, Sodium and Potassium levels in the body
  • Metabolic bone diseases such as Osteoporosis
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome a.k.a PCOS

Dr. Riyazuddin has a special interest in rare diseases and genetic syndromes and “unsolved” cases. He may be able to guide you to the appropriate resources and connect you with a domain expert or authoritative health centre for a rare disease that may be connected with Endocrinology.
